Home Schooling
Home Schooling is becoming more popular everyday, with a growth rate of 12% per year. There are currently 2 million children learning outside of school. Research shows that homeschooled children do well on standardized tests, are welcomed at colleges and universities, and as adults, have a reputation for being self-directed learners, reliable employees, and leaders.
There are several advantages to having your child home schooled. Some of these are:
The teacher has the ability to tailor curriculum to individual needs.
Scheduling flexibility that is impossible when students are in a classroom setting. The child works at his/her own pace.
Students can spend as much time on one subject as they like.
Not having to do busy work or wait until classmates are through to move on to the next subject.
The amount of time to complete a set of daily lessons is considerably shorter than it takes at school.
When students finish schoolwork, there is plenty of time left in the day to study topics of interest, develop hobbies, practice instruments, help with community service projects, create web pages, participate in mentorships, and so forth.
When students are physically ill, they can study at a slower pace or simply rest until they feel well enough to tackle a lesson.
Sleep is vital to the emotional and physical well-being of children. Teaching will be more effective when the child is alert and ready to learn.
Closer family relationships develop as there is no homework stress, tests, or rigid schedule. Vacations can be planned at any time of the year
Specific curriculum will be developed for the different age and grade levels of the students. Individual needs will be addressed through a modified curriculum. Instruction can be accomplished on a one-to-one or in a small group setting.
